Whistler Restaurants

Whistler Restaurants

Whistler’s reputation as a truly international resort is reflected in its variety of cuisine. More than 80 restaurants throughout the resort serve everything from rack of lamb and spicy Thai cuisine to sushi and traditional North American fare. Whistler’s restaurants get booked up quite far in advance and one of our services is ensuring that our guests have reservations at their choice of restaurants with the best tables and the senior servers. The following is a list of VIP’s recommendations.

There are two on mountain restaurants and lunch reservations are highly recommended.
Christine’s is location at the Rendez-Vous Lodge on Blackcomb and Steep’s Grill is in the Roundhouse on Whistler.

Whistler is a casual resort, so even the finest restaurants have casual dress codes. There’s nothing casual about the quality of the food or service though! Families are also welcome at even the finest of restaurants.

Bearfoot Bistro
The Bearfoot is hands down Whistler’s most extravagant restaurant. The Bearfoot’s head chef Melissa Craig was voted Canada’s Top Chef and her 5 course tasking menus certainly back this title up. Dining at the Bearfoot is an interactive experience and is all about fine wine, fine food and celebrating life! The Bearfoot is not for everyone as it is expensive and it’s not unusual to be in the restaurant for 3+ hours.  You haven’t done Whistler until you’ve sabred a bottle of champagne in the Bearfoot, experienced their ice vodka room (coldest vodka room on the planet) and finished things off with nitro ice-cream!

Araxi has won more awards for its food and wine list than any other restaurant in Whistler. The service is professional and impeccable and the dishes are masterpieces created from the freshest local ingredients. The menu is quite varied but focuses on Pacific Northwest. VIP’s recommended dish is the seafood tower from the raw bar.

Rimrock Cafe
The Rimrock wins the locals favourite restaurant award year after year. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed and is very rustic and cabin like throughout and 2 glowing fireplaces. Their specialty is seafood, but we can assure you that their game is also fantastic and we have found the Rimrock to be the most consistent restaurant in Whistler. It is located outside the main village in Creekside. VIP’s favourites are the tuna poke appetizer and venison with lobster mash for the main dish. Then of course there’s the world famous sticky toffee pudding!

Sidecut Steakhouse
Sidecut is located in the Four Seasons hotel. It’s a modern steakhouse with all kinds of innovative dishes such as beef wrapped sushi. Their specialty is the Cowboy or the Longbone which are both carved tableside right in front of guests. The quality of the food and service is up to Four Seasons standards, but somewhat surprisingly the prices are not. We think Sidecut offers the best value in Whistler!

Il Caminetto di Umberto
Il Caminetto offers fine Tuscan cuisine at its very best accompanied by a large selection of international wines with an emphasis on Italian reds. The menu is the most varied of the fine dining choices in Whistler offering everything from fine pasta dishes to game and seafood. Our favourite is the tuna tartare.

Hy’s Steakhouse
Long known as Whistler’s premier steakhouse Hy’s never disappoints. When visiting North America is likely a good idea to experience a true steak and Hy’s serves the primest of all cuts. Our favourite is the gorgonzola filet mignon and the king-crab legs. Don’t forget an order of the famous cheese toast!

Trattoria di Umberto
The Tratt is the ‘Vancouver crowd’s’ favourite restaurant and many weekend warriors have been eating here every Saturday for years. The portions are large; the servers are friendly; and the atmosphere is lively. The Tratt is the most casual of the fine restaurants and is the most fine of the casual restaurants! Our favourites are the beef carpaccio and the fettucini Indiana.

Sushi Village
Sushi Village is about as famous in some circles as Whistler itself.  Known for its casual yet vibrant atmosphere, terrific sushi, and legendary sake margaritas, Sushi Village is as much a social experience as it is a dining one. Our favourite roll is the Super Hiro or the infamous Rainbow roll. Reservations require a minimum of 6 people.

Tandoori Grill
There’s nothing like a curry to warm you up after a hard day’s skiing and the Tandoori Grill provides as much spice as you can handle! You can eat in or your VIP guide would be happy to deliver a takeaway to your chalet.

Teppan Village
Japanese style steakhouse where guests sit around the grill and your Teppanyaki chef cooks stir fry right in front of you. The juggling and knife flipping is a hit with the kids and the food is always good with lots of choice. A great social meal, as tables are long and you can be seated with other couples or families should you wish. Watch out that the fire show doesn’t burn your eyebrows!

The Brew House
A North American style casual restaurant serving basic favourites including barbeque chicken and pizzas. The Brewhouse is Whistler’s largest restaurant offering quick service and large tables so is great for larger groups of families or birthday parties.

Our favourite recommendation for ‘cheap & cheerful’! Caramba is perfect for families looking for a fun and energetic atmosphere. The menu offers a lot of variety including pasta, wood oven personal pizzas, rotisserie chicken, steak and salmon.
